Washington Snow Timelapse

Created with a Nikon D200 capturing a picture every 5 minutes between 5-6 February in DC the timelapse below by amandareckonwith over on YouTube shows the weight of snow that fell:



The difference between our own timelapse of London Snow (captured using an iPhone) showing the heaviest snow in 18 years is stark:

  1. I agree that the DC snowfall video is much more visceral and immediate, but you are not comparing apples to apples here.

    The DC video shows in very intimate and immediate terms what additional inches of snow mean. The London video is of some anonymous rooftops taken from 50 feet away. While the real volume of snow falling on them may be somewhat less, it is difficult to compare between the two videos given the wide disparity in both the subject depicted and the distance from that subject.

  2. What happened to the poor teddy bear? Did anyone attempt a rescue? Someone is going to need a big cuddle when the snow melts me thinks.
