Importing CAD into Half Life 2

We are just working out a clear and easy route to import CAD to the Half Life 2 Source Engine. At the moment progress is slow and mainly trial and error. However, once we crack it we should have a tutorial in place to get from SketchUp to HalfLife.

Fingers crossed.. at the moment its proving to be painful..

    Seriously, check out
    http://www.maple3d.com/MainFrameGLB3Page.htm
It's a plugin for exporting intelligent data to HL1 engine, see updates etc for Source import.
Seems fantastic for modders, but I'm still waiting for a "Play Level Now" Button within archicad/3ds max whatever!

Thanks for the tip I will check it out.

At the moment my head is full of .smd / .qc files and getting them to compile. Its not proving easy to be honest and any tips for 3dmax to Hammer the HalfLife Editor would be great!

    There apps like this one:

I haven't had time to try it yet, but it would by dreamy if it worked well.

  5. I've not messed with HL2 yet, but if I were going to do this (and iirc), I'd go from Max to the freely-available version of SoftImage which is what Valve chose to support the engine. Then take it over from there.

I would still expect brush geometry, however, since I'm pretty sure it still uses a bsp compile.

    Cheers for the comments..

I'm at the Softimage stage now, importing via .xsi. All's well and good apart from the final stage of compiling the model.

Should have a work flow sussed soon though i hope.

  9. Hi, i'm new at this...

I recently have installed the latest version of 3dsmax and now i'm learning how it works.

So... i've been searching on the internet if i can map for HL, or HL2 in 3dsmax.

    Is that possible?

    Thanks!
