Augmenting Reality: Geographical and Architectural Visualisation

Here at digital urban we think Augmented Reality technology has a place in presentations and meetings, it provides a simple yet impressive way to visualise anything from the future of cities to geographical landscapes.

It also captures the publics imagination and thus provides a useful tool for engagement and understanding.

Embedded below is a 'Magic Book' movie uploaded by http://www.metaio.com/ to YouTube:

The good news is that Augmented Reality is surpisingly easy to implement, all you need is a webcam and a printer for the marker sheet.

See our Tutorial - Quick and Easy Augmented Reality from SketchUp/3DMax etc for full details on how to create your own 'Magic Book' or geographical/architectural visualisations using Augmented Reality.

Good news: we will release a free demo-version of our professional AR-software until end of february 08. The software runs smoothly on XP and Vista with every USB-Webcam and includes a nice GUI for easy-access.

Please send me a short note to info@metaio.com and I will put you on the mailing list.

    Regards,
    Daniel from metaio
